Everyone who is looking for a life partner has their own idea of the ideal counterpart. Should it be someone different, to balance out your own character traits, or someone with whom a man can share all his interests?

What kind of woman am I looking for?

Surely every man asks himself this question before heading out onto the street, into the nearest bars or onto the internet. The better he knows what kind of woman he's looking for and what she should bring to the table, the better his hit rate, especially on the relevant online forums for finding a partner. Assuming, of course, that every profile is honest and not too heavily polished!

Whether red, blond or black hair, and all the brown shades in between, we won't get into curvy versus slim here either. It's well known that first impressions count and that the eye always has a say. Nobody in a bar walks up to a woman who doesn't appeal to him at first glance, at least visually. The same goes for flirting and dating sites online. Photos are what people sort by in the first moment.

What kind of woman am I looking for? Inner values count!

Men place almost more importance on the qualities and interests of their ideal partner than on looks alone. The "what kind of woman am I looking for" list often starts with educated and intelligent. A guy wants to be able to have a real conversation, after all. Followed closely by a sense of humor, because laughing together creates a strong bond!

A well-groomed appearance and good sense of style matter not only on the first date. It doesn't always have to be the super-short, sexy miniskirt or the skinny jeans. It should look appealing and not ignore a certain amount of sex appeal.

Men want independent women, and that's not only about the job and finances. Having her own circle of friends and girls' outings for shopping and lattes also guarantees him time with his buddies at the game or over an after-work beer. As lovely as time together is, having your own way to unwind is just as nice.

She should still be open to his friends and family, though. After all, a guy wants to be proud of the woman at his side. Small gestures please him just as much as they please women. So she should be able to remember what he likes to eat or snack on, even if she doesn't always have to cook the meal herself.

Everyone has to think about what kind of woman they're looking for beforehand, and bring up quirks right from the start. As lovely as she may be, the rose-tinted glasses phase ends, and the relationship should still work in everyday life!
